UPSC NDA & NA (II) 2026

The Union Public Service Commission notified the examination on 20 May 2026 under Examination Notice No. 10/2026-NDA-II. Applications close on 9 June 2026 and the written examination is held on 13 September 2026.

The notice lists 394 vacancies, of which 370 are for male and 24 for female candidates: 208 in the Army wing of the National Defence Academy, 42 in the Navy wing, 92 for Air Force flying duties, 18 for Air Force ground duties (technical), 10 for Air Force ground duties (non-technical), and 24 under the Indian Naval Academy 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme. The Navy wing and the Naval Academy entry are entirely Executive Branch.

A candidate must be an unmarried male or female who is a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from one of the countries named in the notice intending to settle permanently in India. The latter two categories need a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India, except that Gorkha subjects of Nepal do not require one.

Only unmarried candidates born not earlier than 1 January 2008 and not later than 1 January 2011 are eligible. UPSC accepts the date of birth entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate, or an equivalent recognised certificate.

For the Army wing, candidates need a 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of school education, or an equivalent examination from a State Education Board or a University. For the Air Force and Naval wings of the Academy, and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy, the 12th Class pass must include Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates currently appearing in the 12th Class may also apply.

The examination fee is Rs. 100. Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, female candidates, and wards of JCOs, NCOs and other ranks as specified in the notice are exempt from paying it.

The written examination has two papers: Mathematics, carrying 300 marks, and the General Ability Test, carrying 600 marks, each lasting two and a half hours, for a written total of 900 marks. The SSB test and interview carry a further 900 marks. Part B of the General Ability Test is set in both Hindi and English.
