The School Education Department, Government of Telangana, issued the notification for TGTET In-Service Teachers 2026 on 21 July 2026, under Rc.No.333/TGTET-In-service Teachers-2026.

Only in-service teachers working in Government, Local Body, TGREIS, Government Welfare Societies Residential and Telangana Model Schools, and teachers working in other Government departments, are permitted to appear.

The test is conducted online as a computer-based test between 7 September 2026 and 11 September 2026. The morning session runs from 9.00 AM to 11.30 AM and the afternoon session from 2.00 PM to 4.30 PM, each lasting two hours and thirty minutes. The department states that the paper-wise detailed schedule will be notified later.

There are two papers. Paper I is for teachers of classes I to V, and Paper II for teachers of classes VI to VIII. Teachers of classes I to V who intend to teach classes VI to VIII must appear for both papers, subject to possessing the other required qualifications.

Secondary Grade Teachers and LFL Head Masters appointed with both D.El.Ed. and B.Ed. qualifications are permitted to appear for Paper I. School Assistants, TGTs, Language Pandits and Head Masters of High Schools are permitted to appear for Paper II.

A pass in this test counts only towards the mandatory condition of passing the TET, either for continuing in a present post or for promotion to the next higher post, in line with the Supreme Court orders cited in the notification.

The department states that a pass in TGTET In-Service Teachers 2026 cannot be used to appear in any direct recruitment. For direct recruitment, candidates need the regular TETs conducted twice a year by the State Government, or CTET.

The examination fee is Rs. 750 for General and BC candidates taking either Paper I or Paper II alone, and Rs. 1,000 for both papers. For SC, ST and PwD candidates the fee is Rs. 700 for one paper and Rs. 950 for two papers. Fees are paid through the online payment option at schooledu.telangana.gov.in between 22 July 2026 and 29 July 2026.
